The sussex thing to remember is that the Chequers is a restaurant with rooms and not vice versa. It is an old coaching inn that has been upgraded nicely, mainly for those diners who wish to complete their experience by maresfield on the premises.

Our room was nicely sussex with gold birds on the walls, a theme which followed through to the curtains and bedding. There were a few minor niggles, the toilet seat wouldn't stay in the upright position, there was no toilet roll holder and no shelf in the shower for soap etc.

The bedside lights had dark lamp shades, so were more appropriate for mood lighting than reading and the kettle restajrant was too short.

On the plus side, it was a lovely sunny room with beautiful views of the church and leafy village. It had a rrstaurant comfortable bed and a reasonably sized bathroom with an effective monsoon shower. I also viewed the two suites which are quite luxurious and have open fires.

The Chequers hotel is old and quaint; the dining area and bedrooms are enhanced by maresfield JAK cartoons and maresfield is a nice sitting area in the garden. Vegetables are extra. There is also an optional A La Carte menu which restaurant more maresfield. We had "the We had "the marwsfield haddock and triple cooked chips". This was the nicest fish and chip meal I have ever eaten with delicious thick fish and the sussex crispy batter. During our stay restaurant also sampled various dishes wheelers found them all good.

My only disappointment was the pastry on the chicken and leek pie, although the filling sussex excellent. Breakfast each morning was also of a high standard. It's not often that a breakfast chef can produce soft and creamy scrambled wheelers when catering for a full restaurant.

The thing about Wheelers is that they produce simple food using excellent produce and it shows. Finally the staff were marvellous. They are a young enthusiastic group of people who slot into each other's roles, when needed, like a well oiled machine. Nothing was too wheelers trouble, the rooms sussex cleaned excellently and wheelers restaurant service wheelers faultless.

We will be back. Was recommended by a friend and book a suite via late rooms, the suite was great very spacious but when we had arrived we were given a standard room which would have been very average his was put down as a mistake, but would have been very unhappy if the suite was not available. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we wheelers the food and I would class as fine dining however what let the stay down was that there was no we factor and very little restaurant service throughout the meal, we were not asked how food was, or if we wanted more drinks maresfield the actual dining experience was very average.

We were told that they had a large party in but food came out in good time so this should susdex no excuse. The best think about stay was th breakfast next day which was fantastic.

Overall satisfied but for the ! We spent Wheelers would have liked more of a personal service. The staff were great and we were extremely well looked after - a real asset to the business.

The hotel was quite comfortable, but bedroom decor a bit shabby, flimsy pillows and no hairdryer! However we were mostly disappointed with the wheelers - the food was cooked well but there was a limited choice and we were sussex shocked at the prices wheelers clearly MPW is trading on his name!!

Some girlfriends and I stayed here for 2 nights as we were going to an wheelers fare nearby. The place is gorgeous, we had dinner bed and breakfast and I can't fault the food but because it sussex a Marco P White place - I was just expecting a little bit more of wheelees wow factor.

There were no hairdryers in the room and one of us had no mirror in the room, so we borrowed hairdryers from the hotel. A day later, restaurant hotel asked for sussex back as another guest wanted to use it We wheelers drinks in the bar, no free nibbles and when we had dinner - no free small courses I've been to quite a few gastro places and the little freebies do make a real restaurant difference.

Maresfield also thought the place was quite masculine and I think needs a woman's touch. I would definitely go back though. We stayed here via a groupon dealand Allthough we were on a cheapy we were treated like valuable customers. Marefsield staff were extremely attentiveand knowledgeable Which was a bonus as some restaurant the menu can be confusing!! We were greated with a lovely smile from lady in a suitwho looked after us thougout are stay! The rooms do need some attention but they have character and are in keeping with the building.

The food was incredible although we had to upgrade to a la carte as the set menu included in our stay was the same two nights runningbut the same lovely manager did her best did offer us an alternative.

Few areas that need fine tuneing sussex, but would definately pay full price to stay there again. On the positive side service was restaurant good. However I susdex the place is not quite sure what it wants to be. Is it fine dining or quality gastro pub? Ambience and service definitely good enough to be fine dining.

Restaurant not quite good enough to be quality gastro pub. This view may in some respects be formed by what I and my partner chose restaurant starter and main - boiled ham for restaurant lacked flavour and seasoning. Briased cheeks dish became a slopping brown mess maresfield though the cheeks themselves sussex very nice - but nevertheless this confusion will act to maresfield me from maresfield back to a place which is near to where I live.
